It falls to about mid-forties at night this time of year, even if we get a nice 80 degree-or-more day! Usually the best way to cool off a house around here is to open all the doors and windows after the sun goes down to let in the cold night air, then close 'em up come sunup and pull down your shades, trapping the cool inside and the hot outside. It works for most of the summer, it's only the truly doggy days of August with its humid nights that are truly unbearable unless you have an actual air-conditioner chugging away. My grandfather taught me that trick, so I tend to refer to it as "Italian air-conditioning," but he used to say something about how "this is how the house breathes" when he was explaining it to me, so I also call it "the house breathing." Which just sounds weird!
