I liked "Big Red Boat": Very bouncy and up. Very Joan. And I loved all the Faces of God being there.
I really, really liked "What It's Really About," though. I thought it was a perfect song for Dad, looking at him trying to balance both his worklife and family life. One of the things I noticed in the vid, and I can't remember if this is always the case in the series (though I'm thinking about it and I think that it is) was how the shots of him with the family is always in gold tones. Very warm, very comforting. And the stuff where he's being a cop, when he's in danger, are all in tones of blue. Dark and cold. It's interesting, and I really liked that contrast--especially when the colors overlap, such as shots with Kevin in the blue sweatshirt, and the firemen/rescue workers carrying the body on the stretcher dressed in the yellow. Images of the comfort and the danger all in one.
And I love JoA, but I never really thought of it as being that atmospheric, visually. But wow.
Yay! Vids! *g*

I have high hopes that we will have working DSL by next week, and if that's so, I intend to download my first vids ever (!) of which "Big Red Boat" will definitely be one.

I love Joan to pieces, but I hadn't seen much fannishness about it online, so I didn't think for a minute there would be a JoA vid, let alone two, at the Vividcon. The Will vid was beautiful, and "Big Red Boat" was probably my favorite vid of the Con--it made me so, so happy that I damn near cried. It's probably a good thing that I didn't get to meet you because I think I would have done something mortifying like... throwing myself at you two and bursting into tears or something. (Totally inappropriately so, since it's such a joyful vid.)
I can't thank you enough for making these. And... err, hi! And I'm going to go away now before I start sounding crazy(er). *g*

And I swear that this time I will send you proper feedback in under a year. Heh.

Eeeeee!
oh, those are marvelous. Big Red Boat is everything
And What It's Really About is so full of love and meaning, it made me a little weepy for Will Girardi.
Y'all are so talented. Thanks so much for sharing these.

And I thought that the other vid was really fantastic - I couldn't read what fandom it was in the dark, until after the vid was done, and I was really amazed and impressed. I have never watched JoA before but you really (IMO) pulled that whole interesting story out of the show and made me realize that there are more layers there than I had imagined. So I look forward to having a new fandom this season :) Also, Joe M. is one of my favorite actors, so it was nice to see a vid that explored one of his characters so thoroughly.

And thank you for your kind words on Black Suits Comin', which I found today - I lost all of my original source for the vid and had to send the online version, which had me tearing my hair out. *sigh*

And, as far as we know, that very early version of the song was only ever released on one of their sold-out limited edition albums, which chronicled their early work in the 90s. We were lucky in that we heard that version at a live performance, before they altered it to the newer version.
