We promised a list of what clips came from what sources, so here it is! We've got episode titles for tv shows where we remembered them. In some cases we got footage off Youtube and don't know what the original ep was; in at least one we forgot to mark anything down when we grabbed the clip and there's not enough there for us to identify it beyond a guess. Sorry!

We didn't realize until after we were done that we had managed to get in footage from every decade from the 1960s through the 2010s. \o/

At some point we'll post clip notes listing what sources were used for what, but we didn't have time to finish that before the con, and are currently too fried to tackle it. Soon, though!

ETA: The clip notes are up!

We couldn't go to Vividcon this year, which was very sad. But we were poking desultorily at vids anyway in hopes of getting something done, when [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza and [livejournal.com profile] astolat roared into town, said, "We've got music! Let's vid!", and [livejournal.com profile] astolat pulled [livejournal.com profile] merryish into one room to vid real people, and [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza pulled us into another room to vid... everything else. Seriously, those women are a force of nature.

And this was the result!

Our Vividcon Premieres vid is up now:

Vidder website: http://flummery.org
Summary: I'm the Doctor. Look me up.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merryish for the all the help, and especially all the baking, without which this vid probably never would have been finished in time. (she made us say that -- but it's true anyway.)

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.

Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:

ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

Feedback of any sort, from comment to crit, is always very welcome!

(We'll probably be remastering this vid sometime this fall/winter, actually -- the DVDs came out incredibly fast, and we'd love to have a clean-source version. But this is the version that aired at Vividcon, and that's on the VVC discs.)

In other news...

We learned many things at this year’s Vividcon! Among the more mortifying -- we clearly have no idea what the hell we’re doing when it comes to aspect ratio. [livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny’s enlightening Vid Tech Panel of Doom helped resolve a few things for us -- and break the bad news that our shiny, newly remastered version of Haunted was actually remastered with the wrong aspect ratio. As of this post, though, we’ve replaced all the remastered versions with newly remastered remasters! ... Yeah. *facepalm*
flummery: (RENDER!)
On August 7, 2007, everything changed.

To commemorate the occasion, we've remastered our Odyssey 5 vid, Haunted, with DVD source. We've also put up some notes about it, for anyone who's interested, linked on our main vids page.

Downloads:

Haunted 2007, large version 45.5 MB

Haunted 2007, small version, 12.2 MB

Both are XVID. Please right mouse click and choose "save" rather than streaming.

If you want to point people to the downloads, please link to http://trickster.org/vids, not directly to the vids themselves.

Ahem. So, it's been a while since we've posted anything here, which would mostly be because it's been a while since we've managed to finish a vid.

We did plenty of vidding, mind. But the vids we were working on kept going completely pear-shaped, one after the other, and then we needed a break from the frustration.

So there's still no shiny new vid. But we do have a shiny new place to see the vids we've already done:

http://flummery.imeem.com

Imeem is like Youtube in that the videos are streaming, but the quality is higher, so we figured we'd give it a shot. :)

The big column on the right functions as a blog of sort, so our vids are mixed in with playlists we're creating, etc. If you want just a list of links to the vids, scroll down a little and look on the left for the Videos section -- all of the vids are named with an abbreviation of the fandom and the song title (e.g., o5_Haunted).

Downloadable copies, as always, are available at our regular vidpage.

Better late than never *g*

Below are some thoughts on what we were trying to do with the Metavid (link to actual vid here in case you want to watch before reading. Or, link to the lyrics). It's mainly me (Thing 2) writing below, with occasional input from Thing 1.

But first... we owe an awful lot of people thanks for this one, it just could not have been made without all the help, so thanks to everyone who let us use vids, clips, their thoughts, shouted "LLAMA!" at us, and all the rest.

The Metavid (or, Walking On the Ground) )
flummery: Image of the Earth exploding (Default)
We sent in two vids this year, one for Premieres, and one for the Challenge Show.

Our Premieres vid:

Jerusalem
Artist: Anouk
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Size: 48 MB

Our Challenge vid:

Walking on the Ground
Artist: Sheldon Allman
Fandom: Multimedia
Size: 32.9 MB

I have linked to the divx versions of the files here, but these are also available in Quicktime and WMV format at our page: http://www.trickster.org/vids. There are also smaller file sizes at this location.

Some background on the Challenge Vid )
flummery: Image of the Earth exploding (Default)
It is 3:21 pm on July the 10th. The deadline for Vividcon premieres is tomorrow. We have reached the point in the vidding where the conversation goes like this:

Thing 1: Think we could use that footage there?
Thing 2: No, that's a commercial.
Thing 1: But it's a lovely ruined city.
Thing 2: It's a commercial for 10.5.
Thing 1: Fine, be like that.

It's like that, only worse.
flummery: (hat 2)
(disclosure: betaed the vid, love the vid, am prejudiced, yadda yadda!)

[livejournal.com profile] marycrawford has just posted a brand new, very good, and very fun Hercules, the Legendary Journeys vid! (Actually, an Iolaus character vid). Not only is it a blast, it's a vid for a fandom that's severely under-represented for vidding.

Go, watch, send feedback, and encourage her to make more!
flummery: (RENDER!)
These two vids were our Premiere entries for VividCon 2004.

Vid: Big Red Boat
Artist: Grey Eye Glances
Vidders: Seah and Margie

Vid: What It's Really About
Artist: Northern Pikes
Vidders: Seah and Margie

Location for both: http://www.trickster.org/vids
Available in Quicktime and WMV.

All types of feedback welcome.
flummery: (hat 2)
The vids are *done*. Completed, outputted, and uploaded. I was all ready to be celebratory and relieved and instead, I find I'm still too wired and wound up and stressed to come to grips with the fact that I now have a good solid ten days or so to get things together and *not* vid, and just focus on finalizing things for the anime show and preparing for Vividcon.

I'd even been putting off posting in LJ until everything was complete, for fear of jinxing something. Everything and anything has hovered, menacingly, as a potential jinx. Using the computer for something other than vidding. Turning the computer off. *Looking* at the computer the wrong way. This was the result of the computer completely melting down, for a second time, about two weeks ago, leaving me weeping and cursing and gnashing my teeth and convinced there was no way we could recover in time to get our act together, considering how far behind we were (halfway through one vid and... next to nowhere on the other). People around me tried frantically to appease and soothe me (thanks guys!) while I completely lost it. There's just nothing quite like turning on your computer and seeing "No OS found" on a black screen...

So, we've done literally nothing but vid since then. Thing 1 has been here basically every other night for the last month, and we're both sick of each other, and I won't let her back in the house, and she won't return my calls. Except when I really shout at her answering machine.

So now.. the vids are done! And I think I will collapse into post-vid coma state. And as soon as we get *back* from the con, I'm reformatting that entire damn computer, and starting fresh.

Here's hoping everyone else is done and ready!!
flummery: (hat 2)
The Escapade dvd has arrived! Okay, it arrived a month or two ago, but I've been working on this for a while, and I'm just plain slow.

I did not get to go to Escapade last year, so I’d been waiting for this for some time, and a good number of the vids on the dvd were completely new to me. I’d already seen a few in various shows at VividCon, but since they weren’t premieres, they weren’t included on the VividCon dvd, and I haven’t had a chance to re-watch most of them until now.

So, that said, here is my attempt at a review of the Escapade 2003 dvd. I’m a little hesitant to do this, for a number of reasons. The first? I feel like I often suck at putting into words my thoughts about a vid. “Hey, that was amazing! Because it was… amazing! And did you see that, uh, amazing part?” And, because it often takes me repeated viewings of a vid to understand it completely (while all around me people are going “Holy crap, did you get the metaphor in lyrics seven through twelve?” I’m going “pretty pictures! Color! Huh?”). And finally, of course, because there’s always the fear that if you are honestly critical, even those who say they want honest criticism are going to be hurt. And some of those people are amazing vidders who I respect more than you would believe, or are beginning vidders, who I would not want to deter from continuing on, and learning, and getting better, or even just saying, “She totally missed the point. She’s got a screw lose. Screw her." So, please take all of that into account when reading these.

Please also do not pay [livejournal.com profile] merryish to come after me with a lead pipe. She’s just been looking for an excuse.

This is, in case you hadn’t guessed, full of spoilers. Don’t read it if you don’t want to know.

Onwards to The Escapade DVD! )

God almighty, talk about your frigging incoherent ravings. Please excuse Seah's lack of vocabulary in the previous vid reviews. She was trying to say: "weren't those vids amazing?"

The next half of this review will occur... at some point in time. Yeah.
