Ahem. So, it's been a while since we've posted anything here, which would mostly be because it's been a while since we've managed to finish a vid.

We did plenty of vidding, mind. But the vids we were working on kept going completely pear-shaped, one after the other, and then we needed a break from the frustration.

So there's still no shiny new vid. But we do have a shiny new place to see the vids we've already done:

http://flummery.imeem.com

Imeem is like Youtube in that the videos are streaming, but the quality is higher, so we figured we'd give it a shot. :)

The big column on the right functions as a blog of sort, so our vids are mixed in with playlists we're creating, etc. If you want just a list of links to the vids, scroll down a little and look on the left for the Videos section -- all of the vids are named with an abbreviation of the fandom and the song title (e.g., o5_Haunted).

Downloadable copies, as always, are available at our regular vidpage.

OMG YAY.

I wanted to bring up your work so often this weekend. Now I can point to it!

hee, yay!

Some of them are cleaner than others -- the vidders who've gone over there (*lures you!*) have made a forum ("meem") where we're hammering out tagging conventions and tech tips and whatnot, and are starting to look at the best way to encode things before uploading to get the cleanest copy. There's probably a weekend of swearing and recoding in everyone's future... *g*

*So* exciting. Believe me, no need for the luring. I'll be there as soon as I can get on top of this massive stack of comments. Oy.

Seriously, feel free in the future. Uh, short of showing it to... someone who will sue us or... compile it into something that will get us into trouble, or the like...

But I also don't think our vids are particularly accessible outside of our fandoms/vidding groups. Many other people's appeal to a much broader range, and humor in particular cuts across barriers. I watched Haunted flop like a giant killer whale out of water at Worldcon -- the one everyone there really *got* was Killa's Razzle Dazzle. They all knew the source, and they all got the point.

And now I am sitting here wondering how I can rework some of the vid exports so they'll look better on imeem, and how much time and efforts and cursing that might involve...

Heh. No worries. I promise.

As for accessibility, I do think there's a gap of understanding between the average vid and the average non-vid-oriented viewer, but I also think that providing proper context can do wonders. "I Put You There" had everybody in the room laughing, and I firmly believe that's because I had given the history of our art form beforehand.

I would love to have "Walking on the Ground" shown at the conclusion of a Wayback Machine-like presentation.

Oh, and all the academics are BSG fans, so "Jerusalem" would probably go over well, too. (:

P.S. I *love* Haunted, and I've never seen the source. The part where the world blows up always makes me shudder.

you may want to go to the LJ 'manage your settings" and toggle it to 'don;t index this LJ" - google picked up this post via my daily vidding blog alert.
