Our Vividcon Premieres vid is up now:

Vid title: Handlebars
Song artist: Flobots
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Vidders: Seah and Margie (Flummery)
Vidder website: http://flummery.org
Summary: I'm the Doctor. Look me up.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merryish for the all the help, and especially all the baking, without which this vid probably never would have been finished in time. (she made us say that -- but it's true anyway.)

Right-click to download: http://flummery.org/handlebars/handlebars_dw_flummery.avi

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.

Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:

ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

That is so cool to hear, thank you! Through unavoidable circumstances, everyone at the Premieres show had heard the song already at least once ([livejournal.com profile] deejay's very cool Iron Man vid to the same song had aired earlier in the show), so there was no real way to surprise people with the build. I'm really happy to hear that it worked so well!

It seems sort of odd to say "yay, we changed your reaction to the song" when that reaction is now, you know... shivers, but -- Yay! Thank you!

Wow, thank you so much for this. When we first heard the song, the progression in it made us go straight to the Doctor, and it's seriously cool to see people's reactions to that, and that it works as well as it does for us. Yay!

*hugs you!* That is so incredibly cool, that you got so much out of it with so little context to go on! And hee, what perfect timing for Laura to have been talking about that! Because yeah, that's exactly it. I love the Doctor to bits, and have for 30-odd years now, but dude -- he ain't human, and his agenda is not our agenda, no matter how much he likes us. You get flashes of that coldness and arrogance and sheer power/danger in all of his incarnations, but Ten can just be completely out of control sometimes, and... yeah. He really is the Oncoming Storm, for all his charm and whimsy.

And hah, you expect sympathy for a few days of earworming? We've been listening to the damn thing since the first week of April -- in the thick of the vidding, I woke up singing it in my head every. damn. morning. Heh.

(You can get it off amazon downloads for $0.99, but I think you'd like the whole album -- these are very smart, very angry young men and women, who have very smart, very angry things to say about a whole lotta stuff. It's fabulous.)

Wow, thank you so much - and for the rec, as well! That was really lovely, and I can't tell you how happy we both are that this worked so well for you. Yay!

Thank you so much! It seems so odd to say "yay we left you in shivers!" but -- yay, we left you in shivers!

The Harriet Jones bit was one of the very first we thought of, because it just personified that lyric for us, and we are both so psyched that it worked for people.

*hugs you madly* It's always good to hear it again! *g* And aw, thank you! We were beside ourselves with glee when that final clip aired in the show, because we instantly wanted it for our ending, and you would not believe how happy we are that it worked for people.

Poor Merry, though -- I don't think she's ever going to watch anything with us again if we're vidding it as it airs. Heh.

Thanks! I'm really glad the vid worked for you -- and as a total aside, wow, I sort of adore that icon. Jabe!

Thank you! When we first heard the song, we went pretty much directly to the Doctor, and it's making us both so happy that that's working for other people, too. Yay!

Dude, you are not bad at vid feedback, trust me. :) This was so great to hear, thank you! When we first heard the song, all we could see was the Doctor; the matchup was perfect in our head, and you wouldn't believe how happy it's making us that that's working for other people too. And I'm so glad the progression made sense to you! *beams*

Hee, don't worry, this made perfect sense. And yay! (Although it's cracking me up that I've got Bill Adama slow-clapping in my head now. Fandoms collide!)

And seriously, thank you so much, this is a *lovely* comment to get -- because that's exactly it, the surface charm and whimsy that pulls you in before you see the darker side underlying it all.

er, and by "that's exactly it", I meant the show, which is what we were trying to showcase in the vid. Clarifications r us!

Wow, thank you so much! The song really is incredibly well-suited to vidding, and once we realized that in our heads, it was a perfect match to the Doctor (which was pretty much immediately), everything really did start growing organically from there. I'm so glad it worked for you so well!

Wow. I came here via a rec, quailed a little when I saw the vid size, but downloaded anyway. So worth it. I didn't know the song, but I had a sense that something would be coming, and man it did. Just brilliant. Now to watch it again.

Brilliant. And scary.
I spent almost all day trying to download it - but in the end it was worth it.
