I agree with others who said to avoid sucking through a straw. Stuff like pudding, applesauce, and ice cream are good, but I found sweet stuff stung quite a bit if it got into the socket, so instant mashed potatoes, made with less salt than suggested, were a godsend (you can even do instant gravy if you want, and Franco American is actually not too bad). Or you could do egg drop soup (chicken broth, stir in whisked egg when boiling), too, because you don't really have to swallow the egg. It's tough to get full when you can't really eat solids.
