Our Vividcon Premieres vid is up now:

Vid title: Handlebars
Song artist: Flobots
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Vidders: Seah and Margie (Flummery)
Vidder website: http://flummery.org
Summary: I'm the Doctor. Look me up.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merryish for the all the help, and especially all the baking, without which this vid probably never would have been finished in time. (she made us say that -- but it's true anyway.)

Right-click to download: http://flummery.org/handlebars/handlebars_dw_flummery.avi

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.

Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:

ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

I think this may be the best vid I have ever seen. If you were an ice skater you would have gotten 6.0s on both technical and artistic merit. Because the song, the clips choices, the editing were all perfect, but more than that you had a message which gradually and inescapably comes through. OMG, that climax is brilliant, I hadn't head the song before, so it came as a surprise. It's something that a lot of fans might have felt swirling in their brains but hadn't been able to articulate, but now won't need to. Amazing.

I just found link this via [livejournal.com profile] killabeez and... wow.

I actually discovered this song around the time you posted this vid or maybe a little earlier (actually, me and my friends made a filk of it appropriate to our theater piece of the moment, but that's another story) so it was already deeply ingrained in me. The very idea of making it a Dr. Who vid is fundamentally perfect: putting the moral code/free will of humans alongside the vastly powerful Doctor and the choices he makes is always the most interestingly problematic things raised by the show and by the very existence of his character. Beyond that, the execution of the vid is stunning; you really made that connections relevant and personal, and the voice of the Doctor comes through strongly in the voice of this song.

That is AWESOME.

I just found this and it is truly amazing. Perfect song and structure. And as much as I like 10, the fact remains, he is an arrogant prick.

Here via [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom, and that was magnificent. I don't think I've ever seen anything that sums up the Tenth Doctor better.

That's brilliant. It's not a song that I would have associated with the Doctor but you've edited it really well and it fits perfectly :)

Wow... that was really awesome. I'm not a fan of music like that, but the song fit so perfectly that I didn't notice. :) Excellent work.

Found the link to your vid over at the Children of Time Awards - and I must really say, you more than deserved to win! Congrats! Your vid is awsome, I sat watching it with my mouth hanging open. Very professionally done, and the song you chose (it suits the Doctor rather well, this mix of melancholy, desperation and anger *shivers once more*) and the way you used it sent shivers down my spin!
Chapeau to you two!

Best, Z.

(Oh dear... I apparently have a very dirty and one-way mind *hangs head in shame* In your notes you wrote something about a "streaming version up on our imeem". What did I read? "Steaming version"! I thought of a NC-17 version of your vid... and and immediately clicked on the link... oh DEAR!)

This is ridiculously awesome: a friend brought it up on a laptop at a party last night and I looked it up again today to rewatch it.

The timing is fantastic; it all fits thematically amazingly, incredibly well. It's like a mini-review of all the awesome and terrible things that happen to and around the tenth doctor. (Forgive me if I squee a bit too much. I enjoyed it so much!)

Congratulations to both of you -- and my thanks to merryish for baking, too!

WOW. [livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior just rec'ed this vid on another post, and I have to say I'm fucking glad she did, this is amazing! So cute and perky and cocky and then you just strip that all away to the darkness underneath and it's just incredible! And it makes the return of the cute at the end SO DARK. ::shiver::

This was so amazing! Great scene selections and timing and nice "story"... (I don't know how to describe it but hopefully you'll know what I mean!) So great, seriously. :)

wow. *amazing* song choice and clip choice. I especially liked the very quick Harriet Jones slip (I hated what was done to her, but loved the way you gave it a quick acknowledgment).

....fuuuuuuuuuck.

Everything the show's ever tried to do, with showing what it means to be the Doctor (what he is underneath and what it could mean, what he's really capable of, what he does and what he chooses not to do, what it means that he's still joyful and twinkling in the midst of it all)....I think you have distilled the best essence of it down into three and a half minutes. I. Yes.

This is awesome. Funny and wrenching and dark by turns, and occasionally all at once.

*goes to rewatch*

That is ASTOUNDING, dude. I didn't know the song so I really wasn't expecting the dark turn towards the end, and it shocked and delighted me. It's kind of the essence of Ten, isn't it?

And now I must go and have my heart break for the doctor.
