Our Vividcon Premieres vid is up now:

Vid title: Handlebars
Song artist: Flobots
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Vidders: Seah and Margie (Flummery)
Vidder website: http://flummery.org
Summary: I'm the Doctor. Look me up.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merryish for the all the help, and especially all the baking, without which this vid probably never would have been finished in time. (she made us say that -- but it's true anyway.)

Right-click to download: http://flummery.org/handlebars/handlebars_dw_flummery.avi

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.

Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:

ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

That was amazing. I had goosebumps all over. The music and the video matched perfectly. One of the best vids I've seen in this fandom.

goood LORD. I have watched this maybe 5 or 6 times today, occasionally on the phone with friends watching it at their own locales, obSESSed with how perfect this is. I adore the Doctor BECAUSE he is this hilarious adorable dorky childish powerful crazy furious ancient madman. This made me want to vid again. I also cried, a bit, every time it ended. Because, damn.

In conclusion, belated wow.

How did I not know you had an LJ? I would have commented ages ago when I found it on iMeem (but I do not have a account there). Hands down the best Tenth Doctor vid anywhere, for all time, in perpetuity. I watch it with alarming regularity and have recced it on my journal not once but twice (and also at DWF).

This is brilliant, and terrifying. Excellent synhing of internal movement to the song throughout. I liked the way you showed the psychic paper for "no resistance." That building of tension, flashes of Daleks, Daleks, other enemies around 2:10 towards the end of the instrumental section was so effective. The momentary black screen was perfect. Your clip choices for imprison and "'cause I don't like them" gave me shivers. And then, God, those apocolyptic images, so well chosen, as if he's orchestrating them. Followed by the Doctor saying, "Boom", and laughing. Scary. Very scary.

When you're the last survivor of a race that was wiped out while conducting genocidal war against another race, what do you do for an encore?

Holy shit, wow. I don't even know where I could start to point out all the awesome in this vid. But I can definitely tell you that it felt like a kick to gut in the best way possible.

I wish I had the proper words to express my awe in how beautiful this vid is... Alas, I can just stare at it with large, fascinated eyes.

This really is brilliant. And it definitely helps to not have been familiar with the song beforehand, because then the tonal shift completely blindsides you with all its Ten-is-scary-as-fuck-ness.

I definitely remember reading about the BBC getting more complaints than usual over the last Christmas special, about representing the Doctor as way too messianic. And then we laughed it off because, dude, it's the Doctor. Yes, he treats his companions quite badly in a geeky autistic way, but we're maybe less inclined to think about what that means on such a Big Scale.

You lot have given me a much better reason to hide behind the sofa now.

Saw this this a while ago and forgot to comment and tell you that I loved it! As many others I hadn't heard the music before so I had no idea what was coming. Very powerful vid, I'm going to rec it in my journal.

I don't know if I already commented or not, but - I watch it regularly, and it makes me shiver and dread and cry every damn time. So great, so spot-on, so powerful. Just awesome, but literally... like the Doctor. Bravo, and thanks a thousand time.

I was just posting a rec of this and realised that I can't remember commenting here - so, this is brilliant. Really, really well done. I now can't hear the song without seeing the vid in my mind!

I really don't have the words to describe how perfect this is. I think the shot of the fire behind the Doctor on "I can end the planet in a holocaust" pretty much sums it up. Brilliant.

Oh, the editing is just fantastic. And while I don't like the style of the song, the lyrics fit perfectly.
