Our Vividcon Premieres vid is up now:

Vid title: Handlebars
Song artist: Flobots
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Vidders: Seah and Margie (Flummery)
Vidder website: http://flummery.org
Summary: I'm the Doctor. Look me up.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merryish for the all the help, and especially all the baking, without which this vid probably never would have been finished in time. (she made us say that -- but it's true anyway.)

Right-click to download: http://flummery.org/handlebars/handlebars_dw_flummery.avi

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.

Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:

ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

This is so, SO perfectly Ten! Boyish, charming, "I'm the Doctor, look me up" - and the progression is perfect! Not to mention the matching of the music and lyrics to the images... *points to icon* - nuff said :) Have watched this three times already, and it's been recced by three of my friends, so... Just thought you should know how popular it is, if you didn't already!

Here via [livejournal.com profile] cathexys - what a marvellous vid! I loved the progression of the Doctor's arrogance, and the way that cast a new light on both the ending and the beginning jaunty, happy views.

This is awesome. I've watched it bunches, and still get chills when it hits the holocaust part.

I especially appreciate the shot of the Prime Minister Harriet. That was so uncalled for in canon.

Wow. That's *powerful*.

Sometimes I like songs just for themselves, sometimes I like songs for the things they remind me of. I like this song now.

Wow.

This is a very impressive vid which I found absolutely overwhelming. As I have got no experience in vidding myself, I can't comment on any technical details; but I just loved the way in which the sheer drive of the song seemed to push the Tenth Doctor from playfulness into ruthlessness. Wow. Just wow.

great vid

I tripped over this in Imeem without knowing you in the slightest, and I was like, 'well, shit. If this vid is even half as good as it could be, it'll be like the greatest Doctor vid ever'.

And then it blew me out of the water by being everything I wanted and more. So arrogant. So awesome. And your edits are so clean and well matched. Ugh, it's amazing and I am jealous but thank you.

This vid is brilliant. Wow. You've captured the Tenth Doctor so incredibly well, the fun loving side and the side that scary as hell. It floored me.

From: [personal profile] runpunkrun
Wow. This is really powerful, especially that last bit after everything explodes and the Doctor's little Converse sneakers step into frame and the music goes quietly back to "no handlebars, no handlebars," which at that point it gains a second meaning -- not just childlike joy at something harmless, but a complete lack of direction and control. Really, really awesome.

Wow, that song is so perfectly the Doctor that it's scary - and the vid is fantastically timed, the choice of images perfect. Amazing, amazing work.

That video was chilling. Very well edited. The video was like a short story about a well known novel. It made me look at the doctor from a different perspective and while Madame de Pompadour was right that there is no way in having the doctor without the monsters, she wasn't completly right - the doctor is in a way is also a monster or at least an angel of death - whereever he goes there is death and destruction. Not such a good guy after all. He can be cruel, dark and judgemental. I loved how you showed his playful side first and how the video slowly slides into the darker areas of his soul. The smile of the doctor at the end suddenly didn't seem so friendly and nice anymore.

Great, great job. Very few videos impress me these days but this one sur did.

Just found this vid today and... am totally and utterly blown away. It's like you reached inside my head and made a vid of *my* Doctor. Or rather, all the meta-ness that I forever carry around with me whenever I think of him.

I wrote an essay last year after the S3 finale (What if God was one of us) and I see so much that I tried to say in that essay in this vid, but far more succinctly put and *so* much more hardhitting.

Because there is that wonderful duality to the Doctor: On the one hand he's just faking it - he's just a guy with flaws and weaknesses like everyone else, but he's built this whole persona/shield up around himself. And on the other he's this:

The Master: “What did it feel like though? Two mighty civilisations, burning. Tell me. How did that feel?”
The Doctor: “Stop it!”
The Master: “You must have been like God.”

Sorry, I am completely incoherent and have far too many thoughts. Mostly just 'Wow!'

A friend of mine linked to this - this is phenomenal. I love the increasingly more intense and rapidly changing images. You did the song justice in the way that the original Flobots video did not.

It's a great summary of Why Ten Is Awesome Fun to watch. I've been listening to the song on repeat today because I can't get this set of images out of my head. :D

This is absolutely amazing. I've added to my del.icio.us list and just wanted to say how brilliant this is. I'm usually not a fan of fanvids, but I loved this one so much that I'm currently downloading the flobots album.

Holy wow McCow. I can see why even TPTB love this -- it starts out so cute, y'know? Just like the Doctor. And then, stanza by stanza, like history, you bring out all the implications about his Chaotic (Good? some days) alignment.

It's also staggering on an artistic level because it fuses the song and the source so seemlessly that it's hard to believe the song wasn't written for the show. That's why they call it Zeitgeist, I guess.
